We began the evening with a deeply meaningful dedication of the new Lodge Volume of the Sacred Law, led by WBro Reverend John Harvey, PDepGChap. This beautiful Holy Bible, purchased from the generous legacy of the late Very Worshipful Brother Major Roger Jago, PGSwdB, Late RAMC, now holds a central place in our Lodge. As WBro Harvey reminded us, this Volume of the Sacred Law is not merely a book but a symbol of truth, justice, and guidanceโ€”a lasting tribute to Rogerโ€™s immeasurable contributions to Freemasonry.

The Bible is an Authorised Text translated under the direction of King James I between 1604 and 1611, known as the King James Version. It was moving to learn that Roger, though not overtly religious, took on his daughter Ruthโ€™s challenge to read the KJV from cover to cover, completing this feat in six months. This act of devotion embodies the values we hold dear and will continue to inspire us as we follow the divine precepts it contains.

We were honoured to be joined by the Provincial Grand Master, Jon Whitaker, and Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Duncan Lilley, who added to the occasion's significance.

The evening continued with a double raising ceremony for Brothers Myles Sunley and Paul Price. It was clear that the Worshipful Master, Charles, and his team had put in the hard work, as the ceremony was nearly flawless.

Both candidates handled themselves brilliantly, and you could see how much the evening meant to them.

During the risings, the Provincial Grand Master made an unexpected announcementโ€”a field promotion for WBro Michael Rowbory to Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden. This is the highest honour the PGM can bestow, and it couldnโ€™t have gone to a more deserving Brother. Michael has gone above and beyond in his service to Freemasonry, including two years as Provincial Sword Bearer. His dedication to the Province and his work in the lodge has been outstanding. Bravo Zulu, Michaelโ€”youโ€™ve more than earned it.

We also displayed the new silver working tools and box for the first time, which were part of the same bequest from VWBro Roger Jago. They looked fantastic and will undoubtedly elevate our ceremonies for years to come. The Immediate Past Master was particularly pleased with the improvement!

As the evening wrapped up, excitement built for our next meetingโ€”a triple initiation ceremony on 27th February 2025. It promises to be a remarkable night, and preparations are already underway.
