Three representatives of the Lodge, W Bros Michael Rowbory and Richard Goddard, and Bro Colin Kirkpatrick, met with the Odiham Military Wives Choir to be thanked for the Lodge’s donation of £300 towards the purchase of an electronic keyboard.
The choir were very grateful for the Lodge’s support and, through their singing, gave a good insight into what the Military Wives Choir does and what it means to its members, as well as to the wider military community around Odiham.
In a short space of time, the new keyboard has already made a real difference to both practices and live performances, and will continue to make a material difference to the Choir’s sound quality and coordination, underpinning their strapline: “Bringing women in the military community together to sing, share and support.”
Military Wives Choir at the Armed Forces Weekend 27/28th June.
Some members of the Odiham choir will be singing at the concert on Armed Forces Day, 27 June, and the Military Wives Choirs (MWCs) will be there throughout the weekend, trying to drum up interest in re-establishing an Aldershot Military Wives Choir, as well as encouraging wider membership.
The benefits of Military Wives Choirs to the military community, now in 72 locations across the UK and worldwide, are well recognised. Perhaps we can help by spreading the word here in Aldershot, amongst the military and Masonic community, to help the MWC achieve their ambition of such a choir.
Do go along with your wives, partners and friends, and see the MWC when attending Armed Forces Weekend.
