Who and What we are and Our Values
What we are
-
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Lodge of around 50 members.
-
We meet five times a year on the fourth, Thursdays in February, April (Installation), June & October and second Thursday in December.
-
Our Meetings are held in the Farnborough Masonic Centre.
-
Our Lodge attracts serving and retired Servicemen from Navy, Army and Air Force, the Emergency Services and civilians in the Aldershot and North Hampshire Area who subscribe to the Lodge’s military ethos.

HRH Field Marshal the Duke of Connaught, Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) soon after our Lodge was founded; he was Worshipful Master of Aldershot Army & Navy Lodge for 45 years. On his lapel he wears our Lodge’s “Connaught Jewel” - we are only one of four Lodges within UGLE allowed to wear such a jewel on every masonic occasion.
What we as a military Freemasonry lodge aim for
To attract those Freemasons of a military background or civilians who subscribe to a military ethos, to enable them to develop into more thoughtful and confident people. To inspire and challenge them to practice in their private and public lives the core masonic values we celebrate, which are:
INTEGRITY
Freemasons today focus on building themselves as people of integrity, and membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal.
FRIENDSHIP
Freemasonry is not defined by an ideology. It is open to people from all religions and political persuasions and provides the common foundation for friendships between members, many of which will last for life.
RESPECT
Freemasonry brings people together irrespective of their race, religion or any other perceived differences that can divide us as a society.
SERVICE
Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry. Our members make valuable contributions by donating time, resources and skills.
Our Aims
Provide a fulfilling environment and framework for continuing personal and social development in a sharing and giving way, supporting our Lodge Guiding Principles of: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Service.

Our meetings to be fun, good humoured, unique, educational and different to appeal to those from the services and those who subscribe to a military ethos.
Teamwork, ceremonial, ritual,
good leadership and a sense of belonging.
An esprit de corps, which may have been forged in combat, rekindled in the bonds of Masonic brotherhood.
Who we are
What binds our Lodge is our military
ethos, our experience of service, with
many different cap-badges represented.

Freemasonry and the Armed Services
in the Province of Hampshire & IoW
With over 8,000 Freemasons spread across its 250 lodges, Hampshire and Isle of Wight is the largest Province of the United Grand Lodge of England. The Province maintains a real sense of togetherness and friendship among its members whilst encompassing the wider scope and benefits of a large leading Province that’s in the forefront of many new and exciting initiatives.

Hampshire has had a long association with the Armed Forces; there has been a Naval Base in Portsmouth since 1194, Aldershot
has been known as the “Home of the British Army” since a Garrison was established there in 1854. As a result of these strong
military ties many Lodges in the Province of Hampshire& IoW were formed specifically to cater for service personnel.
Examples are: - Victory No. 3509 for the Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm No. 8867 for Naval Aircrew, Royal Marine Portsmouth
No. 6423 for amphibious soldiers, Aldershot Army and Navy No. 1971 originally for officers garrisoned in Aldershot, Pegasus
Forces No. 9393 for airborne soldiers, Hermes No. 5532 for the Royal Air Force and Andover Combined Services No. 8300 for all three services. Many of the other Lodges in the Province have strong service connections.
